BRITISH WAR MEDAL 1914-18. 550 Cpl J.Buchan 10-M.G.Coy. A.I.F. Impressed, on medal with naming positioning error and now re-used, officially. No ribbon, otherwise very fine.

John Buchan, bank manager, age 29, born at Pyrmont, Sydney, NSW, the son of Rev. James Buchan, minister of the Congregational Church at Pyrmont for 35 years; Enl.22Aug1916 at Show Ground Camp, Sydney; Emb.06Dec1916; TOS 10 M.G.Coy at France 16Jun1917; RTA 22Sep1919; Disch.28Dec1919; post war was Manager of Narandera Branch of Government Savings Bank; Buchan's two brothers served in the AIF, Capt William Buchan 1Bn was awarded the Military Cross, and Sgt George Rutherford Buchan 13Bn was KIA 11Apr1917 at Bullecourt.
