SOLD $380

ELIZABETH II, polished standar specimen set, 1967, in original cardboard folder, hand signed on the front by two Govenors General and two Prime Ministers of New Zealand along with designer of the reverse of the coins. FDC.

This item was obtained by a high ranking New Zealand Government official on the occasion of the introduction of decimal currency to New Zealand on 10 July 1967. Whilst the coin set is of little significance in itself, the cardboard dust cover bears the signatures of the coin's designer Reginald George (James) Berry (1906- 1979), Govenor- Sir Bernard Fergusson (1911- 1980) (Govenor General from 1962 to 1967), Prime Minister twice from 20 September 1957 to 12 December 1957 and again from 1960 to 1972) he later served as Govenor General (1977- 1980). Sir Robert David Muldoon (1921- 1992) (Minister of Finance 1967 to 1972 and again 1975 to 1984) he was Minister of finance in 1967 and the architect of the decimal currency changeover. Muldoon later became Prime Minister serving from 1975 until 1984, he was without doubt, the most colourful figure to have been in New Zealand politics. An item of some historical significance and probably unique.
