WAR OFFICE WALL PLAQUE, in timber and enamel paint; book, The War Office by Hampden Gordon, 1935 first edition, 358pp, inside front cover with signature, 'W.J.V.Windeyer'. Very fine. (2)

Major General Sir William John Victor Windeyer KBE, CB, DSO and Bar, PC, QC (28 July 1900 - 23 November 1987), also MID (3 times) was an Australian judge, soldier and educator and Justice of the High Court of Australia. During his military career spanning over 35 years he held various commands including Sydney University Scouts, 2/48 Aust Infy Bn, 20 Aust Infy Bn and 2 Aust Div. Windeyer Chambers at 225 Macquarie Street, Sydney is named in his honour.
