THE PROVINCIAL AND SUBURBAN BANK LIMITED, five pounds, issued at Melbourne, no.04977 not dated c.(1879), signed uncertain name, appears to be contemporary but not issued as bank failed in 1879, (This note not noted in Vort Ronald, Australian Private Banknote Pedigrees p.219-221, see illustration of type unissued p.218). Rust spots, heavily creased with tattered edges and several small holes, fair.
