SOLD $850

THE PROVINCIAL AND SUBURBAN BANK LIMITED, five pounds, Melbourne, June 1st 1897, No. 08441, signed J.W. Charles and A.W. Shaw. (MVR 2a). Heavy folds and creases, some split and holed through, repaired with tape on back, very good.

Although signatures are well aged and appear to be contemporary, the bank failed in 1879. Perhaps a mis-written date?

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
