SHIPPING LINE HAT BADGES, in bullion, Cunard Line, pre 1920s officer's hat badge, also small Cunard uniform button and a large uniform button for RPH & Co (R.P.Houston & Co - Houston Lines); Union-Castle Mail Steamship Co hat badge with maker's sticker on back, Geo.Kenning & Son. The first badge with some moth eaten areas, gold thread faded on both, otherwise very fine. (4)

One of Union-Castle's ships was the Gloucester Castle used as a hospital ship in WWI. She was torpedoed in the English Channel on 30Mar1917 and in WWII was shelled and sunk on 15Jul1942 near Ascension Island.
