USA, 1936 S, San Francisco - Oakland Bridge Opening commemorative silver half dollar. Brilliant, uncirculated.

In a slab by Smart Collect as MS64. Mintage was 100,055, the number melted 28,631 leaving a net distribution of 71,424. The opening of the San Francisco Bay Bridge was the occasion for a special souvenir half dollar coin. The coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint in November 1936. The Californian grizzly bear dominates the obverse and the famous landmark, the Bay Bridge is on the reverse. The bridge was opened to traffic, with celebrations on November 12-14, 1936.
