USA, 1936 LYNCHBURG, Virginia, sesquicentennial commemorative silver half dollar. Toned, uncirculated.

In a slab by NGC as MS66. Mintage was 20,013. Commemorates the 150th anniversary of the charter issued to the city of Lynchburg in 1786. The obverse depicts a portrait of senator Carter Glass, who objected to using the portraits of living men on coins, but his protests were ignored. The reverse shows Liberty standing with the Lynchburg courthouse in the background.
