USA, 1935 D, Arkansas Centennial commemorative silver half dollar. Lightly toned, uncirculated.

In a slab by PCGS as MS65. Mintage was 78,385 for all issues 1935-1939, the number melted 9,600 leaving a net distribution of 68,785, 5,505 were issued for the 1935D. It dates 1836 - 1936 commemorate the centennial of admission of Arkansas to the Union (1836). The two figures show a Quapaw Indian since this friendly tribe formed the greater part of the population of what become the Territory of Arkansas. The female head wears a Phrygian cap a 1936 version of Ms. Liberty. Obverse behind the eagle is a diamond-shaped symbol derived from the state flag, referring to Arkansas's diamond. The Symbolism also suggests the 'South Will Rise'.
