USA, 1893 WORLD'S COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION, Isabella quarter dollar. Uncirculated.

In a slab by PCGS as MS64. Mintage 40,023 Net distribution after melting 24,214. The Isabella quarter was designed by Charles E. Barber, chief engraver at the time. The issue was proposed by the Board of Lady Managers of the Columbian Exposition, and authority to coin these pieces was granted 1893. The obverse features a portrait of Queen Isabella. The reverse shows another female model, supposedly meant to be a symbol of Woman's industry. The quarter depicts a foreign monarch, unique in American coins.
