SWITZERLAND, City of St. Gallen, silver taler, 1620, (28.92 g), obv. MO:NOVA. CIVIT: SANGALLENSIS* 1620*, standing bear to left, rev. SOLI* DEO* OPT: MAX: LAVS* ET GLORIA*, crowned double eagle, (D.4677, KM.61). Surface scratches on obverse, otherwise good fine, scarce.

Ex Alan Jordan Collection.

A similar taler was issued from 1563 to 1567, this from 1620 to 1625, and none for the rest of the century. The reverse legend translates 'Praise and honour to God alone, the best and greatest.'
