RUSSIA, Centenary of St Petersburg State Mining Institute, 1873, in bronze (79mm), dies by V.Alexeev and A.Griliches (Diakov 802.1), obverse, winged Genius crowning portrait medallions of Catherine II and Alexander II, below the institute shield with mural crown and crossed hammers, reverse, the institute building. Small edge nicks, otherwise good very fine and scarce.

Currently known as the St Petersburg State Mining Institute (Technical University), its foundation was ordered by Catherine the Great on 21 October 1773.
