TEEKEN AKADEMIE, Utrecht, 1828, prize medal in silver (47mm) reverse inscribed to 'Marinus Jakobus Stocki'. Rim nicks and some metal overlow on edge during striking, very fine.

Marinus Jakobus Stocki born in Holland on 15Oct1809 at Utrecht, died on 01Jun1899 at Alkmaar. During his lifetime he was engaged as a designer, drawing teacher, architect, miniature painter, watercolourist and draughtsman. His son moved to South Africa setting up a school in the Blouvlei region of Cape Colony on a farm that he named Alkmaar after his birth town. He also became a winemaker and made a name for himself in the history of South Africa. With research.
