NETHERLANDS, Southern area, silver token 31mm, dated 1400 but issued later, Mechelen, (6.12 g), obv. M‚reau Hospice of the Holy Spirit (Geest-Armhuis), around PAX HVIC DOMV I ET OMNIB HABITATIBVS, in centre the fortified hospice, with an angel welcoming two men and a woman naked, in exergue, ú M ú IA ú IN ú. rev. around SCF SPTIRT ASSIT NOBIS GRATIA VT VI, the dove of the Holy Spirit wings displayed, surrounded by rays, (Min., 411; Van den Bergh -; Dugn., 420 var [Our Lady of Hanswyck]). Toned, good fine, several field knocks, rare and a very interesting example of medieval medical art.
