SOLD $140

GERMANY, Bavaria State, struck at Munich under Albrecht IV, (1465-1508), silver half batzen 1506, obv. Bavarian shield, around ALBERTVS CVX BAVARIE, 1506, rev. lion rampant left, around IVST9 NON RELINQVETVR, (V.Saurma-Jeltsch 977, type 426 [Pl.XIV]). Bright, fine.

The motto "justus non relinquetur" probably refers also to the just newly introduced in Bavaria 'Primogeniturordnung' that Albrecht enshrined as a constitutional principle of the unity of the Duchy, and especially to ensure his legality as Duke.
