CHINA, Late Ch'ing Dynasty (1644-1911) or Early Republic, silver boat shaped sycee ingot, similar as type to Shandong Province high-sided ingots, 10.0 ounce (330g), with two sets of characters in two rectangular blocks in centre reading 'Long Chang Yin Lu' (Dragon Chang silver foundry or minting establishment), (cf.Cribb 79 [Pl.18]). Very fine and rare.

Cribb comments (p.28) that according to Miyashita, (pp.66-69) the minting establishments in Shanghai were called 'yin lu'. Elsewhere they were known by other names.
