SKENE MEMORIAL SHIELD, 1920-21, in 9ct gold (5.1g; 31mm), obverse, rifles at sides of target, wreath around, reverse, inscribed, 'Skene/Memorial Shield/1920.21/Won by/A.McMurtrie'. Slight dent on reverse, otherwise good very fine.

The Skene Memorial Shield was established in remembrance of Lt W.Skene who was killed in action during the Boer War. Skene was resident of the St Arnaud District of Victoria and the trophy is held by the Shire of Northern Grampians and displayed in the Stawell Town Hall.
