SAMOA, HMS Calliope - Capt.Kane in brass (30mm) (MH.642). Original gilding, extremely fine and rare.

Kane was the only Captain to save his ship and crew from the hurricane of 15 March 1899 that devastated Apia Harbour. These medals were presented to crew members by a French admirer Marquis De Leuville.
