CONVICT TOKEN, on a shaved english copper penny blank (23.1g), stippled obverse 'WILLI/AM x FOST/ER x WHEN/THIS x YOU/SEE x REM/EMBER x/ME x ', reverse 'WHEN x/I AM x FAR/A x WAY x/FROM x THE/ MAY x 5/1836'. Very fine.

A William Foster was one of 320 convicts transported to New South Wales aboard 'John Barry' on 7 September 1835, arriving 7 May 1836.
