Trio: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19 with MID. 106187. Cpl. H.G. Hughes, R.E. on first medal, Capt. H.G. Hughes. On last two medals. All medals impressed. Very fine.

Together with tribute medal in the shape of a Maltese cross with laurel leaves between the arms, in the centre is a disc inscribed, '1914/1918', and on the reverse is inscribed, 'Captain H.G. Hughes/Royal Engineers'.

MID: Second Supplement to LG 20/12/1918, p15037, for operations in France and Flanders.

Henry George Hughes, school teacher, age 24, served in the Royal Engineers in the ranks 05Jul1915 to 11Mar1916 and as an officer from 12Mar1916 to 12 Mar1919 when he was released from military service. He was granted the rank of Captain effective from 12Mar1919. In 1937 he was an applicant for a scholarship from the Lord Kitchener Memorial Fund.
