(VESPASIAN - TITUS), Moesia & Thrace, period of Vespasian and Titus (A.D. 69-79; 79-81), (3.89, 4.81, 7.14 gm), AE as with countermark of TI.C.A within a rectangular punch, countermarked on a worn asses of 1st century A.D., (Martini, No.89 type in Pangerl Collection of Countermarked Imperial Coins); another AE uncertain type (6.78 gm), with countermarks of C.CR within rectangular punch, ((Martini, No.116 type in Pangerl Collection of Countermarked Imperial Coins) (illustrated, and a great rarity noted by only two examples published and known to Martini) and another T.C.A on Augustus asses, (6.09, 6.38 gm), (Martini, No 88, Pangerl Collection of Countermarked Imperial Coins). Countermarks very good - very fine, one holed, host coin poor - fair and all rare - extremely rare, with collector tickets. (6)

Martini notes the letters which he believes for the first three and last two coins to mean TI(tus?) or T(itus) C(aesar) A(ugustus) and CCR an uncertain meaning. He notes these issues as struck generally on issues of Augustus as is this issue with SC in centre. Martini places the issue of these coin types to the period of Vespasian and Titus. It was in the Thrace-Moesia area that these countermarks were applied to circulating worn coinage.
