PORCIUS LICINIUS, (118 B.C.), silver denarius, Narbo mint, (3.93 grams), obv. helmeted head of Roma right, * behind, around L PORCI LICI, rev. naked Gallic warrior in biga right, with spear, shield and carnyx, L. LIC. CN. DOM in exergue, (S.158, C.282/5, Syd 520, RSC Porcia 8). Toned, light surface porosity, very fine or better and scarce.

Ex Spink & Son with ticket. This extraordinary issue was struck at the newly founded city of Narbo, the first Roman colony in Gaul.
