ZEUGITANA, Carthage, African Revolt (Libya), (c.241-238 B.C.), billon didrachm or shekel, (7.27 grams), obv. head of young Herakles to left, clad in lion skin, rev. lion prowling to right, above Punic letter 'M*, **LIBUWN* in exergue, (S.6544, Carradice & La Niece, 'The Libyan War and Coinage', Num. Chron. (1988) 1, SNG Cop. 239, MAA 53). Double struck on obverse and slightly off centre on reverse, some surface pitting, otherwise good very fine and rare.
