MICHAEL III, (A.D. 842-867), gold semissis, issued at Syracuse mint in A.D. 842-866, (1.580 grams), obv. facing bust of Michael, crowned with cross, holding patriarchal cross and wearing chlamys, around MI XAHL **Q*, rev. facing bust of Michael wearing loros, cross on head, holding patriarchal cross on globe, around MI XAHL [**Q]*, (S.1694, DOC 9, BMC 13, T.10). Nearly extremely fine and very scarce.
