JAPAN, Kure Naval Headquarters commemorative medal, Hirohito (Showa) Yr 12 (1937), in bronze (72mm), obverse, battleship cruising right, aircraft above, mooring buoy in foreground with sea bird, edge band in form of a ship's life buoy, with Japanese inscription, reverse, plain except for two vertical lines of Japanese characters for Nagoya District naval personnel. Some staining on reverse, otherwise good fine.

Kure was the Japanese Naval Centre and home base of the largest battleship ever built, the Yamato.
