GERMANY, Nordhausen Concentration camp, .01 mark note, with prefix '*', note No.003697, another Note No. 010223, probably made in 1944, (Campbell No. 4021)l. Very fine and rare.

Ex Sydney Levine Collection. The Mittelbau work camp complex consisted of three camps located near Nordhausen. These were originally subcamps of Buchenwald but became independent in November 1944. Mittelbau is a contraction of Mitteldeutschen Baugesellschaft A.G. a company that used concentration camp labourers to manufacture rocket parts. It operated from 1943-1945. The notes are on watermarked paper.
