The Magarey Medal is an annual award for the player judged by umpires as 'Fairest and Most Brilliant' in the South Australian league. The first Magarey was presented in 1896 and derives its name from William Ashley Magarey (1868-1929), president of the South Australian Football League. Tom McKenzie was the first triple Magarey Medallist, winning the award in 1902 with West Torrens and 1905 and 1906 while playing for North Adelaide. To date only five other players have achieved this feat.
