SCOTLAND, James VI, (1567-1625), silver ryal, Edinburgh mint, probably 1569 (date very weak), first coinage, obv. crowned shield dividing I R, rev. crowned sword, countermarked by crowned thistle in 1578, (S.5472, p.70 for cmk.). Toned, weak in centre otherwise good fine/very good and rare.
