Sir Edward James Reed, 1830-1906, KCB, FRS, was the Chief Constructor of the Royal Navy from 1863 to 1870. He entered parliament serving as MP for Pembroke 1874-1880 and Cardiff 1880-1895 and 1900-1905. He was appointed Lord of the Treasury in 1886.
