CEYLON, George III, pattern two rix dollars, 1812, in silver by Thomas Wyon Junior (Pr.252; KM Pr4; illustrated Forrer VI, 645). Attractive dark blue grey tone, brilliant FDC and excessively rare, one of the greatest of British Colonial rarities.

Ex Robert Climpson Collection, Noble Numismatics Sale 85 (lot 2278), previously from the R. J. Ford Collection (lot 242) and almost certainly ex Cholmley Sale, Sotheby 1902 (lot 392), Murdoch (lot 267) and Nobleman (lot 158).
