DOMITIAN, (A.D. 81-96), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 89, (3.616 grams), obv. laureate head of Domitian to right, around [IMP CA]ES DOMIT AVG GERM P M TR P VI[II], rev. around IMP XIX COS XIIII CENS P P P, Minerva standing to left, holding spear, (cf.S.2731 [£160 EF], BMC 154, RIC 140, RSC 250). Slightly off centred obverse, nearly extremely fine and scarce.
The Reka Devnia hoard contained 81,044 silver denarii and 632 denarii of this ruler but only 7 examples of this variety.
