CONSTANTINE IX (1042-1055), gold histamenon nomisma, (4.40 grams), struck at Constantinople mint, scyphate flan, Class II, obv. Christ enthroned facing, with nimbus, hIS instead of IhS in legend, rev. Constantine bust facing bearded wearing loros, saccos and crown, in right hand labarum, and in left hand cross on globe, triple border, (S.1829, DOC 2b). Large flan, extremely fine and a very rare variant.

Ex Ted Murphy Collection and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 44 (lot 1286).
