Lot 4221    SESSION 14 (11.30am Friday)    Indian Coins

Estimate $750
Bid at live.noble.com.au

SULTANS OF DELHI, Ala' al-Din Muhammad, (A.H. 695-715, A.D. 1296-1316), gold tanka with nine sides, undated an uncertain mint (Delhi?), (cf.G&G D221). Very fine and extremely rare.

Unpublished and a previously unknown type (although a square example is noted by G&G). The legend in places is somewhat crude and may be a contemporary imitation. However the wear and overall legend characteristics of this coin lends it to be a regular limited issue of this ruler in a most usual shape.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
