MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.046 grams), Amphipolis mint, issued c.315-294 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, **L above torch all to left, cantharus under throne, to right **ALEXANDRO[U]*, (cf.S.6713, Price 468, BMC 468a-c, M.60-). Toned, very fine.

Ex Glendining's London, July 4, 1974 (lot 18 part) and from the Collection from Glamis Castle, Angus, formed by an unknown collector prior to 1714.
