Bid at live.noble.com.au

CHINA, Qing (Ch'ing) Dynasty (1644-1911), Tai Ping Rebel coinage, obv. "Tian Guo Tai Ping" (Heavenly Kingdom of Taiping), as obverse with four characters, rev. "Sheng bao" (sacred curency) two vertical characters, round cash with square hole, issued 1861-1864, diameter 25mm, (cf.Hartill 23.18, cf.TFP 2670). Very fine and very rare.

The issue was soon stopped and they were probably made at Nanking, but the diversity of types suggests striking in surrounding provinces as well being occupied by the rebels.
