NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY OF VICTORIA, 1873, in silver (51mm) by J.Hogarth, inscribed on reverse 'Hon S.H.Bindon / First Prize / For Setter / 'Boz' / October 1873'. Extremely fine.

Samuel Henry Bindon (1812-1879). Arrived in Victoria in 1855, where he practised law and was elected to the Legislative Assembly for Castlemaine in 1864. Bindon pressed for Development of the Agricultural and Industrial wealth of the country and was the moving force behind the Melbourne Exhibition of 1866. He became Chairman of the Technological Commission of 1869 and was a Trustee of the Public Library, Museum and National Gallery of Victoria, also a member of the Acclimatisation Society of Victoria.
