SIR JOSEPH BANKS, 1816, in bronze (40mm) by W.Wyon for the Royal Horticultural Society (BHM 911, Eimer 1088). Extremely fine.

Ex Philip Kennedy Collection 1973 (lot M202). Sir Joseph Banks accompanied Captain Cook on his circumnavigation of the world in a ship equipped at his own expense. He was President of the Royal Society from 1777 to his death in 1820 and bequeathed his Natural History collection to the nation.
