THESSALY, Pharsalos, (425-405/4 B.C.), silver drachm, (5.53 grams), obv. Athena head to right in close fitting helmet, ornamented with wing, traces of TH I **P* behind, rev. Thessalian calvaryman in petasus, chiton and chlamys with whip on prancing to right, around clockwise **[F]ARS around horse, within incuse square, (cf.S.2191 [Å‣275], Lavva 107, examples in Ward Collection Sotheby, Zurich 1973 (lot 37), Lanz Sale 48 (lot 217). Nearly fine/fine and rare.
