GORDIAN II, (A.D. 238), AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 238, (19.31 grams), obv. laureate bust of Gordian II to right, around IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AFR AVG, rev. around VIRTVS AVGG, Virtus standing left resting on shield and spear, S C across field, (S.8473, RIC 8, C.15). Attractive brown tone, with flan crack, very fine and rare.
