COMMODUS, as Caesar, (A.D. 177-192), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 175-6, (3.378 grams), obv. bare head of Commodus to right, around COMMODO CAES AVG FIL GERM SARM, rev. around PIETAS, knife, sprinkler, jug, lituus and simpulum (priestly implements), (S.5546, RIC 613, RSC 401, BMC 647). Lightly toned, very fine and very scarce.
