CUBA, Souvenir silver peso, 1897, (Bruce X M2). Steel blue patination, good extremely fine, scarce,

Ex Tom Hanley Collection. Part of the 1897 contribution issue produced by the Delegation of the Cuban Revolutionary Party. Designed by Philip Martiny and produced by the Graham Manufacturing Company. The word peso was allowed by the delegation to be placed on the coins in 1898 but permission was not available in 1897 hence the word Souvenir was used instead.
