C. VIBIUS VARUS, (42 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.802 grams), obv. head of Bacchus, wearing wreath of ivy and grapes to right, dotted border, rev. C. VIBIVS in exergue [VA]RVS to right, Panther leaping to left towards altar with mask and thyrsus, (S.496 [£90 VF], Cr.494/36, Syd.1138, B.Vibia 24). Attractive dark patina, off centred reverse, very fine/good very fine and very scarce.
