GROUP OF FOUR: Military Cross (GVR) and bar; 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. The first medal un-named, Capt. C.M. Brisco-Owen. R.E. on the second medal, Capt. C.M. Brisco-Owen R.A.F. on the third and fourth medals. Second to forth medals impressed. Very fine.

Clarence Morland Brisco-Owen, Capt. (temp) 23Oct1915 R.E. Flying Officer (Observer) 07Dec1917 R.F.C., Capt. (temp, Observer) 31May1918. Entered France 30Oct1915 (Capt. R.E.). Died India 17Sept1919 cause unknown. His MC was awarded whilst serving with the R.E.S. and bar to M.C. with the R.F.C. MC. L.G.:10Jan1917: for "conspicuous gallantry in action. He remained twelve hours supervising repairs to a railway line under heavy artillery fire". London Gazette, 17 September 1917. Bar for "conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in making numerous daring reconnaissances of enemy wire and trenches at very low altitudes, during which he and his pilot constantly emptied their drums into the enemy trenches, undeterred by violent machine-gun fire. He secured information of utmost value, which could not have been obtained by any other means." Together with a substantial file of photocopied service records and combat reports, well detailed, also LG pages. An interesting insight into an officer who risked his life on numerous occasions and survived the war sadly to die shortly afterwards.
