PHOENICIA, Tyre, (c.2nd century B.C. - 1st century A.D.), silver shekel or tetradrachm, (13.580 grams), Jerusalem mint, issued A.D. 50-51, obv. laureate head of Melqarth beardless to right, rev. eagle to left with closed wings, carrying palm, standing on prow of ship, club to left, to left POG ( = 176 [= A.D. 50-1], to right KP and monogram EPH, Phoenician letter 'B' between legs, around **TUROU IERAS KAI ASULOU*, (S.5918, RPC 4675 [also Pl.171], Rouvier 2119, H.919). Off centred obverse, uneven tone, with sharp legends, otherwise very fine, scarce date.
