ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.400-350 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (7.632 grams), obv. female head of Demeter to right with double fillet, rev. corn ear, META trace to right upwards, leaf to left, (cf.S.405, Noe 383 [same dies], SNG ANS 307 [same obverse die], Boston 77 (same dies), Jameson 271 [same dies]). Toned, very fine/fine and a rare type.
