ITALY, Calabria, Tarentum (Taras), (4th century B.C.), silver diobol, (1.062 grams), obv. head of Athena with full face partially to right, wearing three crested helmet on which is Skylla, rev. infant Herakles naked facing and leaning on left knee, strangling serpent in both hands, in exergue a thunderbolt, (S.-, Vl. 1454 [This Coin]). Good very fine and extremely rare.

Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 70 (lot 3089), previously from the Vlasto Collection and that from the Nervegna Collection which was sold by Sambon & Canessa, Paris at auction, November 18, 1907, (lot 462 [p.34] described as very rare).
