THRACE, Island off Thrace, Thasos, (c.463-411 B.C.), silver drachm, (3.558 grams), obv. naked ithyphallic Satyr in a kneeling running attitude carrying off protesting nymph, rev. quadripartite incuse square, (S.1748 [£200], BMC 32-34, McClean 4203-4 [Pl.151, 26-27]). Extremely fine with good facial detail, rare in this condition.
