MACEDON, Kingdom of Philip II, (359-336 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (14.150 grams), Pella III mint, issued c. 336/5-329/8 B.C., obv. head of Zeus laureate to left, dotted border, rev. naked youth or small man (Philip II), on horseback to right, **Q* below horse's foreleg, around above **FILIP POU*, (S.6681 [£1500 VF illustrated], Le Rider 438 [p.57, D231/R438 dies, Pl.18]). Attractive round, dark tone, nearly very fine and extremely rare.

The left facing bust of Philip II tetradrachms is only known from a few examples coming from two obverse dies. In all Le Rider knew of 10 examples of left facing busts. $$ Ex Leu Numismatik AG, Zurich privately with their ticket.
