NERO, (A.D. 54-68), gold aureus, Rome mint, (7.486 grams), issued A.D. 58-59, obv. bare head of Nero to right, around NERO CAESAR AVG IMP, rev. oak-wreath enclosing EX SC, around PONTIF MAX TR P V P P, (cf.S.1936 [denarius], RIC 16, BMC 17). Trace of old mounting, edge cut and edge filing, otherwise very fine and rare.
