PHOENICIA, Arados, (c.2nd century B.C.), silver drachm, (4.212 grams), struck **PQ* = year 89 = 171-170 B.C., obv. bee,in field to left and right **PQ* MC monograms, rev. stag standing to right, palm-tree in background to right **ARADI[WN]*, (cf.S.5989, BMC 148-149 [p.20], P. Kinns "Drachms of Ephesus" Num. Chron. 1999 No.4.18 [This Coin, illustrated Pl.11]). Toned, off centred reverse, otherwise very fine, scarce.
Ex Walter Holt, Sydney, May 2003 and from the Lebanon Hoard 1997 deposited c.165 B.C. described in Num. Chron, 1999 (pp.60-62) (Coin 4.18, illustrated Pl.11).
